Quakers face a tough climb against Marlington

COLUMBIANA – The Leetonia boys golf team beat Western Reserve 168-175 Friday at Valley Golf Course.

Corey Valentine and Hunter Smith both led the Bears (5-2) with 40 each, followed by Josh Faulkner with 41 and Brendan Custer with 47.

For the Blue Devils, Nolan Snyder shot a 31, followed by Ethan Grim with 39, Alex Kirk with 50 and Kyle Martin with 55.

The Bears host Sebring at Valley Golf on Monday.

West Branch 175, Minerva 181

SALEM – The West Branch boys golf team knocked off Minerva 175-181 Friday in Northeastern Buckeye Conference action at Flying B Golf Course.

The Warriors (4-4, 3-3) were led by Blake Galista with 41, followed by Bobby Parsons with 42, and Nate Coy and Ben Fitzpatrick each shot a 46.

For the Lions (1-5, 1-3), Riley Simpson and Scotty Wilson both had 44.

The Warriors face Salem Tuesday at Flying B.

Marlington 173, Salem 201

SALEM – The Salem boys golf team struggled with Marlington Friday as the Dukes won 173-201 at the Salem Golf Club.

Seth Brine led the Quakers (0-5) with a 43, along with Trey Toothman with a 51 and Aaron Robbins with 53.

The Quakers host Minerva on Monday.
