Warriors split a pair, Eagles and Bears struggle

United, Canton Central at West Branch

BELOIT -West Branch split a pair at a tri-match on Saturday against United and Canton Central.

West Branch (1-1) beat United 25-15, 23-25, 25-20. Whitney Wallace had 16 points to lead the attack. Sydney Townes chipped in eight kills, while Pavin Heath had 10 assists. Paige Walsh had four blocks, while Kaylee Manning had six digs.

For United (1-4), Claudia Rockhold had five kills.

Canton Central was a 25-23, 25-18 winner over West Branch.

Townes had five kills and Heath four kills for the Warriors. Heath added nine assists.

West Branch beat United’s jayvees 25-21, 25-22 and Canton Central’s jayvees 14-25, 25-18, 25-18.

Leetonia, Southern at Lisbon

LISBON – Southern captured a 25-17, 25-22 victory over Lisbon and a 25-18, 25-23 win over Leetonia on Saturday at a tri-match at Lisbon High School.

Against Lisbon Anna Sevek led the Indians with 10 kills. Hannah Brothers had 27 assists. Natalie Utt had 10 digs and six kills. For the Devils, Hannah Hiscox had eight kills and seven digs. Kimmi Wiggers had six kills and six digs.

Against Leetonia Anna Sevek had five kills, 12 points and four aces. Abbey Smalley had seven kills, 16 points and seven kills. Brothers had 23 assists. Erica Gruszecki had seven digs and two kills for Leetonia.

Lisbon beat Leetonia 25-18, 25-23 in the other match. Tiffany Ketchum posted 20 digs for the Devils. Taylor Siefke had nine kills and five digs. For Leetonia, Ariel Smith had eight digs, four kills and six assists. Maddie Penfold recorded 18 digs.

In jayvee action, Lisbon won 25-16, 25-10 over Leetonia and 25-20, 17-25, 25-22 over Southern. Southern’s jayvees were 25-20, 25-21 winners over Leetonia.
