Warriors take it the distance

West Branch 3, Louisville 2

LOUISVILLE – West Branch took it the distance to beat Louisville 15-25, 25-20, 25-21, 24-26, 15-10 on Tuesday in Northeastern Buckeye Conference action.

For the Warriors (2-1, 1-0), Whitney Wallace had 15 points and 12 digs, followed by Kaylee Manning with 10 points and 12 digs, Sydney Taures with 12 kills, and Pavin Heath with 26 assists.

Louisville won the junior varsity match 25-12, 25-23.

The Warriors head to Carrollton today.

Western Reserve 3, Wellsville 0

BERLIN CENTER – Rachel Maslach had 15 kills, 21 assists, eight digs and 10 points as Western Reserve rolled to a 25-15, 25-23, 25-14 win over Wellsville on Tuesday.

Aleah Hughes had 21 kills and 14 digs, while Marissa Phipps had 20 assists.

Western Reserve is 4-0, 1-0.

Springfield 3, United 0

NEW MIDDLETOWN – Springfield opened its Inter-Tri County League upper tier slate with a 25-23, 25-19, 25-17 win over United on Tuesday.

Quinn Crowe paced the Tiger (3-2, 1-0) attack with nine kills. Kasey Kohler had five kills and nine points, while Elizabeth Thompson had 16 assists and three kills. Becca Yemma and Callie Ford had 12 points each.

For United (1-6, 1-1), Logan Daggy had eight kills and three aces. Shanna Miller had 19 assists and four kills. Shelby Mix had four kills and four aces.

Springfield won the jayvee portion 25-20, 25-19.

Crestview 3, Lisbon 0

LISBON – Despite close rallies from Lisbon in the second and third sets, Crestview knocked off the Blue Devils 25-14, 25-23, 25-23 on Tuesday.

Lauren Harrold led the Rebels with 10 kills and two blocks, followed by Brooke Harper with eight digs, six kills and four aces, Mackenzie Daub with eight digs, and Bri Cope with eight digs, 53 sets and 21 assists.

For the Blue Devils, Tiffany Ketchum had 17 digs, followed by Hailey McValy with five kills and Karlee Pezzano with nine digs and 17 assists.

Crestview also won 25-20, 25-15 in junior varsity action. McKenna Perorazic led the Rebels with seven kills and four assists, along with Whitney Cope with 12 assists and three aces. For Lisbon, Peyton Blackburn had four kills, seven digs and seven assists, and Lauryn Todd had seven digs and four kills.

The Rebels head to Springfield on Thursday, while the Blue Devils host Springfield next Tuesday.

Leetonia 3, Sebring 0

LEETONIA – Leetonia picked up its first win of the season Tuesday with a 25-10, 25-21, 25-16 victory over Sebring.

Leading for the Bears (1-4) was Ariel Smith with 14 points, six kills, 15 assists and 10 digs, followed by Aurora Smith with nine points, three kills, 10 assists and seven digs, and Kristy Eckman with 10 kills.

For the Trojans (1-3), Sydney Smith had three aces, Maddi Abergdee had 13 assists and Murphy Flowers had 14 digs.

Leetonia also won the junior varsity match 25-11, 25-22.

The Bears host Youngstown Christian today.

South Range 3, East Palestine 0

GREENFORD – South Range was in control Tuesday as the Raiders turned back East Palestine 25-8, 25-19, 25-3.

For the Raiders (3-2, 1-0 Inter-Tri County League), Codi Taylor had eight aces, two digs, four kills and nine points, Jordan Youngs had eight kills, four points and seven digs, and Emily Moretti had 17 points, two kills, one ace and four digs.

For the Bulldogs (0-6), Jessica Leake had four digs, five kills and one point, while Alexis Guy had seven points, one assist and one ace.

South Range also won 25-15, 25-19 in junior varsity action. Markie Gabriel led the raiders with four kills, three digs and four points, while Ashley McKee had 10 assists, four digs and six points.

Both teams return to action next Tuesday as the Raiders host Mineral Ridge, and the Bulldogs host United.

Heartland Christian 3, Columbiana 2

COLUMBIANA -Heartland Christian took Columbiana to the limit Tuesday as the Lions picked up the 26-24, 25-27, 14-25, 25-19, 15-8 victory at Columbiana High School.

For the Lions (4-1), Kristen Osborn had 32 kills, 11 points, 25 digs and two aces, and Bonnie Flynn had 19 points, 12 kills and 30 digs.

For the Clippers (3-2), Shayla Ray had 22 kills, nine points, two aces and 16 digs, Emily Witmer had 16 kills, four assists and one dig, and Lauren Schluetter had five points, one ace, 46 sets, 27 assists and five digs.

Columbiana also won the junior varsity match.

The Lions host Ursuline on Thursday, while the Clippers head to Western Reserve next Tuesday.
