Minerva girls roll into districts

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — East Liverpool senior Megan Danver tied for first to highlight area bowlers on Saturday at the Div. II sectional at St. Clair Lanes.

Danver had a 580 series (161-218-201) and tied with St. Clairsville junior Annelise Dumas and St. Clairsville senior Katie Patrizi for the top series score of the day in girls competition.

The East Liverpool girls finished fifth as a team (3,243) and were one of six teams to qualify for Friday’s Div. II district tournament at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe.

East Liverpool senior Gabbi Reinhardt helped the Potters out with a 522 series (187-177-158).

Minerva’s girls won the sectional with 3,574 total. Minerva freshman Megan Keister was fifth with a 566 series (193-173-200). Minerva junior Katlyn Smalley was ninth with a 527 series (160-171-196). Minerva freshman Skylar Timmerman was 10th with a 524 series (169-188-167).

East Liverpool’s boys also qualified for districts by playing fifth (3,655). Sophomore Billy Todd was eighth with a 592 (203-170-219) series. Junior Gregory Baumgarner took 13th with a 565 series (202-149-214).

Beaver Local’s boys also qualified as a team by taking sixth (3,601). Beaver Local was led by junior Cameron Lane with a 595 series (181-187-227) to finish sixth overall. Sophomore Trevor Williams had a 544 series (167-240-137) to take 23rd overall.

There was a bit of a delay at the event as the oil machine went down. The machine was fixed in time for the girls to start at 1 p.m. and the boys at 4 p.m.

Two teams and two individuals not on qualifying teams advance from the district tournament to the state tournament in Columbus on March 3.
