Range rips Rebels

COLUMBIANA — State-ranked South Range scored 46 points in the first half and rolled over Crestview, 79-40, Friday.

South Range, ranked 13th in the Division III state poll, improves to 17-0 overall and 6-0 in the Inter-Tri County League Red Division.

Dan Ritter led the Raiders with 21 points. Mark Vennetti added 11 points and Jaxon Anderson 10.

Dan Ritter scored seven points in the first quarter as the Raiders took a 20-6 lead and they widened it to 46-14 by halftime.

Stephen Barr and Scott Murray each had nine points for the Rebels, who fall to 1-16 and 0-5 ITCL. Chance Mustake had three assists and two steals. Wyatt Woodring grabbed six rebounds and Peyton Wolfe made two steals.

South Range also won the junior varsity game, 66-21. Hunter Woodring scored seven points for the Rebels.

Both teams play East Palestine next — Crestview is on the road Tuesday and South Range is home on Friday.

COLUMBIANA — Jared Wilson had 25 points and Hunter Zentner had 11 points and three assists as Columbiana delivered a 56-45 win over Southern Local on Friday.

Columbiana, which got four rebounds from Jacob Clark, improved to 7-11.

Southern’s Jacob Joiner had 16 points. Andre Sloan added five rebounds and Jayce Sloan made three steals.

Columbiana also won the jayvee game, 45-40. Chase Franken led the winners with 11 points. Jared Garner had 13 points for the Indians.

On Tuesday, Columbiana will play at Wellsville and Southern hosts Heartland.

MINERVA — Connor Wright had 18 points as Minerva had a 56-47 win over Canton South on Friday in Northeastern Buckeye Conference action.

Brock Croston added 14 points for the Lions, 11-7 and 7-4 in the NBC.

Minerva added a win in the jayvee game, 33-27.

BERLIN CENTER — Western Reserve’s boys basketball team outpaced Sebring 72-61 on Friday in Inter-Tri County League Blue Division play.

The Blue Devils are 14-3 and 6-1 in the league. They are one-game behind league-leading McDonald.

Kade Hilles sparked the winners with 25 points and eight rebounds. Jack Cappabianca had 18 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Ryan Demsky provided five assists.

Colin Baia had 19 points for the Trojans, 10-8.

Sebring’s jayvees were 56-40 winners with Joey Clark scoring 17 points. Todd Henning had 18 points for the Devils.

Alexis Hughes had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Devils.

Olivia Woods and Kyleisha Jays had seven points each for the Trojans.

Western Reserve’s jayvee girls team beat Austintown Fitch 21-12. Laura Sigworth had five points for the winners.
