Struthers boys claim Div. II district bowling crown

CANTON — Wellsville junior Charles Click came up short of a state berth in the Division II district bowling tournament Saturday.

Click rolled a 480 series to place 49th in the boys field at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes. He had games of 159-155-166.

Click, who was sixth overall at the Warren sectional two weeks ago.

The top five teams and top five individuals not on a qualifying team advance to the 11th annual state tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl on March 3-4.

The Struthers boys (3,885) and Norton girls (3,468) won district team titles.

Freshman Bryce Oliver was the top boys individual with a 640 series as he led Woodridge to a runner-up finish.

Boys individual state qualifiers include Norton senior Cooper Smith (625), Brookfield senior Michael Katko (593), Maplewood senior Larry Duano Jr. (583), Champion senior Zach Johnson (574) and Brooklyn sophomore Marchella Carrossellia (571).

Wickliffe junior Susannah Tippen topped the girls with a 563 series. Other individual state qualifers are Lowellville sophomore Haylie Rotz (557), Garfield senior Danielle Tuttle (547), Elyria Open Door senior Selena Frazier (531) and Southington senior Susan Decker (526).

The 83 boys bowlers averaged 168.4 per game, while the 81 girls averaged 143.2 per game.
