Ritters, Ford were among ITCL’s best

COLUMBUS — Four of the top players in the Inter-Tri County League Red Division headline the Associated Press Division III All-Ohio boys basketball team released Tuesday night.

Springfield senior Jake Ford, the area’s leading scorer, was named to the All-Ohio third team.

South Range enjoyed a record-setting season as senior Dan Ritter received special mention, while senior Anthony Ritter and junior Brandon Youngs gained honorable mention.

In Division II, Beaver Local senior Chase Wilcox and Minerva junior Connor Wright received All-Ohio honorable mention.

Ford averaged an area-high 24.9 points a game along with 4.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.3 steals. He averaged 10 free throws a game, shooting 78.9 percent from the line.

The Tigers went 16-8 on the season and finished second in the ITCL Red Division behind South Range.

South Range went a school-best 24-2, won its first league title in 18 seasons and was ranked sixth in the state poll.

Ritter was a key player in South Range’s record-setting season as he averaged a team-high 15.4 points. Youngs averaged 12.3 points and Anthony Ritter 12.0 points for the balanced Raiders.

Wilcox was the Beavers’ leading scorer, averaging 17.4 points, 3.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds a game.

Wright is one of the area’s top guards, averaging a team-high 18.2 points in directing Minerva to a 13-10 season.
