Rebels pile up the runs on Blue Devils

COLUMBIANA — Trinity Boston’s two-run home run powered Crestview past Lisbon 10-5 on Friday.

Emma Smith recorded two singles, one double, two RBIs. and four runs scored. Whitney Cope had two doubles and two RBIs. Haley Eskra added a pair of singles.

For the Blue Devils, Autumn Oehlstrom led with a single, home run and three RBIs. Hannah Deland tallied a single and an RBI.

Crestview improves to 7-7 this season and travels to Jackson-Milton today.

EAST PALESTINE — East Palestine put in the scare in undefeated Columbiana on Friday, but the Clippers prevailed for a 1-0 victory.

Columbiana improves to 14-0, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-7.

With two outs in the fifth inning, Emily Gosselin hit the eventual game-winning RBI single. Taylor Ross scored the winning run and was the lone player to record two hits. Marisa McDonough struck out five over seven innings for the victory.

For the Bulldogs, five different players recorded a single. Jade McBride started but took the loss, striking out one and walking another over seven innings.

Columbiana heads to Mineral Ridge for a doubleheader today. East Palestine hosts Leetonia at 11 a.m. today in another doubleheader.

NEW MIDDLETOWN –Nikki Bovo had two singles, two doubles and two RBIs as Springfield defeated Revere 13-3 on Friday.

Lindsey Druschel drove in three runs with a single and triple. Makenzy Capouellez hit a pair of singles and drove in one. Cassie Bacon drove in a run in each at bat for a total of four RBIs on a single, a sacrifice fly and two groundouts.

Springfield is 12-1 and is ranked eighth in the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association poll.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — South Range capped a strong week down south with a 9-3 victory over the Poca Dots on Friday.

South Range, ranked fifth in the Div. III state poll, improves to 9-3 and hosts No. 8 Springfield on Monday. The Raiders finished 4-1 on the beach and plan on returning to Ohio today.

Felecia Gaeta led the Raiders with a triple, two singles and two RBIs. Morgan Smith had a double and two singles. Cragyn Yanek added a double and single while also picking up the victory.

For the Blue Devils, Gracie Weyland had two singles and a double. Arianna Gregorino and Layla Woolf had two singles apiece.
