Warriors rip Lions

BELOIT–The West Branch football team rolled over Minerva 31-7 Friday.

The Warriors improve to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.

Minerva loses its 25th straight game and falls to 0-5, 0-2.

Quarterback T.J. DeShields led the Warriors completing 23-of-37 passes for 239 yards. He also rushed for 92 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Cole Pittman added 15 carries for 87 yards and one score, while Josh Rinehart had 67 yards rushing and a touchdown on two carries.

Kyle Linhart hauled in seven passes for 89 yards, while Jesse Rastetter caught nine passes for 73 yards.

Minerva quarterback Brock Croston completed 17-of-29 passes for 223 yards. Rylee Walker came up with two interceptions for the Lions. Connor Fritz had nine receptions for a game-high 143 yards.

West Branch hosts Carrollton next week, while Minerva hosts Louisville.
