West Branch rips Carrollton in NBC play

BELOIT — West Branch took out Carrollton 5-1 on Tuesday in boys soccer action.

For West Branch, Luke Johnson and David Sutton had two goals each. Stevie Stenson also had a goal.

Johnson also had two assists, while single assist tallies went to Sutton and Avery Francis.

Jarod Butler had three saves in goal for the Warriors who host South Range on Thursday.

Beaver Local 2

LEETONIA — Leetonia’s girls soccer team beat Beaver Local’s reserves 3-2 on Tuesday.

Kylie Tullis had two goals for the Bears. Kayla Jackson added a goal. Kalie Eastek had an assist, while Zoe Bruderly had 10 saves in goal.

Syndie Holden and Danica Taylor scored for Beaver Local.

Wellsville 1

WELLSVILLE — Tommy Kornbau scored three goals and Joshua Zickafoose one as Leetonia downed Wellsville, 4-1, in soccer action Monday.

Isaiah Dorsey scored Wellsville’s goal off an assist by Eli Dieringer. Jonathan DeJane made 10 saves in goal for the Tigers.

The Tigers honored Cathy Salter, a 1982 graduate of Wellsville High School who was killed in the New York City terror attack on Sept. 11, 2001.

A tribute to her was read before the match, followed by a moment of silence. The Tigers wore 9-11 memorial jerseys sponsored by Wellsville Terminals. The Wellsville High School marching band performed the national anthem and then patriotric music at halftime.
