Quakers have no trouble with Minerva

SALEM–Salem swept Minerva 25-13, 25-10, 25-9 in Northeastern Buckeye Conference action Thursday.

The Quakers improve to 15-4 overall.

The Lions fall to 3-17 overall and 2-10 in the NBC.

For the Quakers Allee Davidson had six kills and two digs, Echo Mayer Kutz had 8 kills, and Josie Miller had 10 assists and two aces.

Ashley Gulling had four points, three kills and 12 digs for Minerva.

Salem won the jayvee match 25-12, 31-29. Kaylee Freeman had six points and five assists for the Quakers.

Columbiana 3, Leetonia 0

LEETONIA — Columbiana knocked off Leetonia 25-15, 25-13, 25-12 on Thursday.

For Leetonia, Emma Kemp had nine digs and three kills. Haley Ward had four kills and eight digs. Brea Moore added 11 digs and three aces. Brianna Luttmers had four digs, nine assists, three aces and seven points.

For the Clippers, Alexis Cross had 11 kills and six digs, Morgan Highley seven kills and 15 digs, Emily Gosselin four aces, 11 points, 19 assists and 10 digs and Marisa McDonough seven kills.

Columbiana defeated Leetonia 25-10, 25-16 in jayvee action. For the Clippers, Marissa Makosky and Madison Moser each had four kills. Makosky added nine aces, while Maci Linhart had three kills.

Columbiana hosts Mineral Ridge Thursday.

Wellsville 3, Lisbon 0

WELLSVILLE–Wellsville swept Lisbon 25-18, 25-17, 25-10 in volleyball action Thursday.

For Wellsville, Emily Russell had nine kills, while Emily Russell had 10 kills and five aces. Regan Pierson racked up 36 assists. Kiki Perry had 19 kills and three blocks. Also for the Tigers, Delaney Cochran had five kills. Emily Skinner had four blocks.

For Lisbon, Kimmi Wiggers had eight kills and nine digs. Maddie Liberati added five kills and nine digs. Chloe Smith finished with nine digs and two blocks.

Lisbon won the jayvee match 21-25, 28-26, 26-24. Cadee Johnson had 11 kills for the Blue Devils, while Callie Steed had 19 digs and Natalie Ammon finished with 25 assists. Meaghan Nixon had 15 kills, while Greta Cartwright had 36 assists. Indiah Pullie had five aces.

Southern 3, Toronto 0

SALINEVILLE — Southern made it a clean sweep of the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 25-9, 25-8, 25-12 win over Toronto on Thursday.

Southern is 18-0 overall and 14-0 in the league. The Indians are expected to make the OVAC Class 2A tournament, but before that happens the team will host Lowellville on Monday in its cancer charity match.

Waterloo 3, Sebring 0

ATWATER — Waterloo beat Sebring 25-7, 25-8, 25-13 on Thursday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play.

Emma Whaley and Izzy Jackson led defensively with 16 and 12 digs respectively for the Trojans. Kylei Jays had five kills. Sabryna Roy had 10 assists.

United 3, East Palestine 0

HANOVERTON–United defeated East Palestine 25-13, 25-8, 25-22 on Thursday night.

For United Camryn Jarett had 24 kills, 13 points, 17 digs and a block. Rachel Bowen finished with 13 kills, three aces, two blocks, five points and four digs while Cameron Pierson had 40 assists, 6 points, 12 digs and an ace for the Eagles.

East Palestine was led by Marlaina Frye with nine kills, eight points and two blocks. Mardyson Pichett had five kills and 14 assists Emily Berger had fourk ills and two points.

United is now 11-3 in league play and 14-5 overall. The Eagles will host Canton South on Monday.

East Palestine is now 10-10 on the season.

East Palestine won the jayvee match.

Jade McBride had 14 kills nad Cailtlin Mohney had seven kills for East Palestine.

For United, Savannah Burton had eight kills and three aces. Brooke Smith had six kills and a block. Alysandra Moore had five aces and two kills.

Springfield 3, Lowellville 0

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield ripped Lowellville 25-9, 25-9, 25-10 on Thursday to move to 16-4 and 10-1 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.

Lynsey Smith and Jennie Stitzel had 11 kills each for the winners. Zoe Renaldy added eight kills. Stitzel also had 13 points and seven aces. Kaelin Yemma had 32 assists.

Springfield hosts Waterloo on Monday.
