Quakers battle past Minerva

MINERVA– The Salem girls basketball team picked up another win in Northeastern Buckeye Conference play with a 39-33 win over Minerva on Wednesday.

Salem improves to 7-2 on the season and 4-1 in league play.

Allee Davidson-Chuck led Salem with 18 points.

Echo Mayer-Kutz finished with seven points and seven rebounds for the Quakers. Casey Johnson had nine points and seven steals.

The Quakers forced Minerva into 25 turnovers on 12 steals.

Salem returns to action on Wednesday as they continue league play hosting Marlington.

In jayvee action, Minerva won a shortened game (one half) 19-12.

CARROLLTON– South Range’s boys baskteball team beat Carrollton 53-41 behind a 21 point outing from Mike Cunningham.

South Range remains perfect on the season at 8-0.

The Raiders also saw contributions from Brady White and Jaxon Anderson who each had nine points.

South Range will travel to Springfield on Friday.

In jayvee action, South Range won 59-28.

COLUMBIANA–Heartland Christian’s boys basketball team fell to Mineral Ridge 75-61 on Wednesday night.

Heartland Christian was led by Steven Baker with 19 points. Cade Roth added 16 points and Connor Macintosh contributed 12 points.

Heartland is now 1-7 on the season and will host Bloomfield on Saturday.
