West Branch sets down United

HANOVERTON — T.J. DeShields had 16 points and Reese Leone added 15 more as West Branch knocked off United 59-50 on Saturday.

Brandon Zuchowski added 13 points.

Parker Hydrick powered United with 20 points, while Dakota Hill added 13 points. Kaden Smith had 10 points for the Eagles (7-2). Alex Birtalan had nine rebounds.

United won the reserve game 44-41. Nate Miller lead United with 14 points.

MINERVA — Minerva improved to 6-2 on the sason with an 83-39 win over Tusky Valley on Saturday.

Connor Wright powered the Lions with 26 points. Brock Croston added 16 points, while Brice Williams chipped in 12 points.

Tusky Valley is 2-6.

Minerva won the jayvee portion, 41-25.

CALCUTTA — Brandon Kemp scored 25 points and Steve Darlington added 18 points on a 6-for-6 shooting night in leading East Palestine past Beaver Local, 75-74, on Saturday night.

East Palestine improves to 6-4 heading into Friday’s home game against EOAC leader United.

Dominic Posey added 12 points, Nate Beatty eight points and Clayton Murray grabbed six rebounds.

East Palestine shot 52 percent from the field, 46 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the foul line.

The Bulldogs used a 19-13 second-quarter run to take a 32-30 halftime lead. The lead remained two at 48-46 through three quarters.

Zak Pappas topped the Beavers with 23 points and six assists. Luke Chetock followed with 14 points and Drew Theiss had 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Tate Joseph contributed 12 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field.

Beaver Local will host Wellsville on Tuesday.
