Quakers turn away Canton South

CANTON–The Salem girls basketball team snuck away with a 46-43 road win over Canton South on Monday night.

The Quakers improve to 15-6 on the season and finish Northeastern Buckeye Conference play with a 9-5 record.

Salem’s Echo Mayer-Kutz hit the game-winning basket with 5.1 seconds remaining in the game.

Kyla Jamison led the Quakers with 13 points and six rebounds. Allee Davidson-Chuck had 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, three blocks and two steals.

Mayer-Kutz finished with 11 points and five rebouds. Ellie Davidson had eight points, five reboundsand three assists.

The Quakers outrebounded the Wildcats 29-23.

Salem will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Poland in the WKBN Game of the Week. Junior varsity will tip at 5:15 with the varsity slated to start at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on MyYTV.

Struthers 61, Columbiana 52

STRUTHERS — In an attempt to get some exposure to the Struthers Fieldhouse floor for a possible appearance in the Div. III district tournament, the Columbiana girls basketball team accepted the home team challenge of the Struthers Wildcats on Monday.

In a game aired on live TV, the Wildcats protected their home floor with a 61-52 victory.

Columbiana was heavily hampered by a four-point third quarter as the Clippers fell to 20-2 by way of the Div. II Wildcats.

Khaylah Brown had 20 points to spark the Wildcats.

Kayla Muslovski had 29 points to lead the Clippers.

GREENFORD — Bri Modic had 20 points as South Range dumped Lordstown 73-39 on Monday.

The Raiders move to 17-4 and will close out regular season play on Wednesday at Liberty.

Dani Vuletich added 17 points for the Raiders.

In jayvee action, Emily Irons had 12 points as the Raiders won 37-20.

HANOVERTON — United Local came up on the short end of a 38-30 scoreline on Monday.

The Eagles fall to 10-11 and will be at Lisbon on Thursday.

Hannah Mix sparked the Eagles with 13 points. Courtney Cooper added six points and seven boards.

In the two quarter jayvee game, United won 30-7. Morgan Briceland had eight points for the Eagles.

COLUMBIANA — Sebring’s girls basketball team bounced Heartland Christian 56-48 on Monday night.

Emma Whaley led the Trojans with 18 points, while Olivia Woods added 15 points. Kyleisha Jays had 12 points.

Springfield 52, Girard 37

NEW MIDDLETOWN –Haley LaMorticella had 13 points as Springfield bounced Girard 52-37 on Monday night.

Ellie Centofanti added 12 points for the Tigers.
