Rebels on the winning path

COLUMBIANA — Haley Eskra scored 10 of her personal-high 15 points in hte first quarter to give Crestview a fast start in a 66-47 win over Mathews on Thursday.

The Rebels led 19-5 in the first quarter and 43-13 at halftime.

Taryn Gilbert contributed 12 points and Tanner Hoffer had 10 points and six rebounds. Krista Perry collected nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals and Mara Halas nine points and three assists. Brenna Auer grabbed six rebounds.

Crestview improves to 13-4 on the season.

Crestview also won the the junior varsity game, 54-19, behind Addison Bandy’s 20 points. Shianna Mathes added 12.

The Rebels will host Waterloo on Saturday with the junior varsity game starting at 1 p.m.

Leetonia 31

LEETONIA — The Columbiana girls put the finishing touches on a perfect Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference campaign with a 73-31 win over Leetonia on Thursday.

The Clippers improve to 18-1 overall and 14-0 in the EOAC for their fifth league league title.

Four Clippers scored in double figures, led by Kayla Muslovski with a game-high 18 points, 14 coming in the final quarter.

Alexis Cross followed with 13 points, Kennedy Fullum 13 and Taylor Hall 12.

Columbiana led 8-6 in the first quarter and pulled ahead with a 25-point second quarter to take 33-11 lead.

Ari Russell topped Leetonia with 11 points, hitting 9-of-12 free throws, and eight rebounds. Kayla Jackson also had eight rebounds.

Columbiana won the junior varsity game, 25-24. Annalise Quigley had nine points for the Clippers and Delaney Roller seven for the Bears.

Both teams play Monday as Columbiana hosts McDonald and Leetonia visiting Crestview.

Crestwood 28

GREENFORD — Seven players scored in a 21-2 first-quarter run that put state-ranked South Range on its way to a 66-28 win over Crestwood on Thursday.

Bri Modic paced the balanced Raiders with a game-high 14 points. Dani Vuletich and Izzy Lamparty had 12 points apiece and Maddie Durkin added 11.

South Range, ranked 13th in the Division III state poll, improves to 16-2 on the season.

The Raiders opened up a 55-12 lead after three quarters.

South Range also won the junior varsity game, 34-7, as Marlaina Slabach scored 11 points.

The Raiders will play at Youngstown Ursuline on Monday.

HANOVERTON — East Palestine had a balanced attack as it took down United 45-36 on Thursday in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference game.

Brysten Trosky and Jaliyah Mixon had eight points each for the Bulldogs who had four other players score at least six points.

United (10-9, 8-5) got eight points from Cameron Pierson. Hannah Mix had six points, five steals and five rebounds.

United’s jayvees won 37-23. Kyleigh Daggy had nine points for United. Morgan Briceland added eight points.

United is at Western Reserve on Monday.

BERLIN CENTER — Jackson-Milton wasn’t going to be denied twice in a week.

Days after suffering its first loss of the season state-ranked Jackson-Milton dropped Western Reserve 50-30 on Thursday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play.

The Bluejays lost to McDonald earlier in the week.

Alexis Hughes led the Devils with eight points and five rebounds.

No jayvee game was played.

WELLSVILLE –Izzy Perez tallied 23 points and Maddie Liberati added 13 more as Lisbon downed Wellsville 60-28 on Thursday in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference game.

Lisbon is 11-6 and 10-3 in the league, while Wellsville falls to 2-18, 0-13.

Liberati also had nine rebounds, while Perez had seven rebounds, six assists and 11 steals. Autumn Oehlstrom had eight rebounds.

Menina Jackson led the Tigers with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Wellsville is at Toronto on Monday.

Lisbon hosts Malvern on Saturday.

Lisbon won the jayvee game, 50-17. Corinne Freeman had 19 points for the Devils.

Olivia Woods added 10 points for Sebring.
