Lions surge past Quakers

MINERVA — Minerva scored seven runs in the seventh to run away with a 9-1 win over Salem on Wednesday in Northeastern Buckeye Conference baseball action.

Goose Stewart had three hits and two RBIs for the Lions, 9-2, 5-2.

Dominic Slentz needed 74 pitches to earn the victory on the mound.

Salem was the home team due to the game being switched to Minerva’s field.

SOFTBALL

Minerva 4, Salem 2

MINERVA–Liv Kamph blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning for Minerva and was the difference in a 4-2 win over Salem on Wednesday.

Hayden Carner had a double for the Quakers. Jessica Slocum had an RBI single. Bailee Thorn, Sydney Kline and Elly Exline all singled.

Minerva’s Kiaunna Brown had two hits.

Salem travels to West Branch today.

Minerva travels to Carrollton.
