Lions shut out Quakers

MINERVA–The Minerva baseball team blanked Salem 3-0 in a rare Sunday afternoon game.

Connor Wright pitched a complete game with six strikeouts to power the Lions, who move to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.

At the plate for Minerva, Shane Walters provided a double, single and two RBIs. Danny Common added two hits and an RBI.

Warriors earn a sweep

SALTSBURG, Pa.–The West Branch baseball team earned a convincing sweep over Kiski Prep in a doubleheaders Saturday.

The Warriors took the first game 7-1 behind a complete game from Jon Snyder.

Seth Schroeder compiled three hits, while Jake Lyons added a double and two RBIs.

West Branch poured it on for a 22-6 win in the second game.

T.J. DeShields had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Jon Snyder and Logan Metzgar each had three hits, with Metzgar adding three RBIs. Colin Croft also had three hits and an RBI.

West Branch is now 12-1 overall and hosts Canton Central Catholic today.
