Quakers roll over LaBrae

SALEM–Salem got the bats going early to score six 1st inning runs and beat LaBrae 12-2 on Saturday.

Jake Maenz had two doubles and a single for the Quakers. Braydon Gibson had three singles and two RBIs. Shawn Chappell had a double and single along with 2 RBIs. Josh Young a two run single.

The Quakers are now 6-2 and will host Alliance in Northeastern Buckeye Conference action on Monday.

POLAND–A run scored in the top of the first inning was enough for West Branch to beat Poland 1-0 on Saturday.

Gino Sabatine had seven strikeouts in seven innings and only gave up four hits for the Warriors.

T.J. DeShields had a double while Seth Schroeder, David Cunningham and Brant Alazaus each had a single for West Branch.

West Branch is now 8-1 and travels to Marlington on Monday.

MINERVA–A four run 3rd inning helped Minerva beat Lisbon 10-2 on Sautrday.

Connor Wright and Shane Walters each had two hits for the Lions. Danny Common had a double and 4RBIs.

Minerva (5-2) freshman Kole Mayle had seven strikeouts and went the distance in his varsity debut.

South Range 3

GREENFORD–The Edison baseball team picked up its first win of the season by beating South Range 11-3 on Saturday.

Edison (1-4) pulled away with five runs in the seventh. South Range falls to 4-7.

Brandon Youngs had a double for the Raiders.

South Range is at Ursuline Monday.

BERLIN CENTER–East Palestine picked up a 2-0 victory over Western Reserve in baseball action Saturday.

The Bulldogs even their overall record at 3-3. The Blue Devils fall to 5-2.

Justin Hooley pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts for East Palestine.

Connor Elliott was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Bulldogs. Dustin Bourne and Cameron Wischerman each doubled.

East Palestine is at Leetonia Monday.

Danny Davis had a single and a double for the Beavers. Luke Call had two singles.

Columbiana is now 4-6 and will host Wellsville on Monday.

Beaver Local is 5-5 and will travel to Weir on Monday.

UNITY–Southern picked up two wins over Heartland Christian in doubleheader action on Saturday at the Next Level Sports Complex.

Southern took the first game 12-4. Caleb Glover and Connor Lewis each had two hits for the Indians.

Tom Kling had single and a double for the Lions.

In game two, Southern took a 13-2 win. Dominic Pugliano had two singles and a double for the Indians. Caleb Glover had a double and three RBIs.

Tom Kling had a triple and Joey Donofrio had a double for Heartland.

Southern improves to 6-2 and will host United on Monday.

Heartland Christian is now 0-6 and will travel to Lordstown on Monday.

Bears, Trojans split

SEBRING–The Leetonia and Sebring baseball teams split a doubleheader Saturday.

Leetonia won the first game 6-5. Brandon Ware had a pair of RBIs for the Bears. Josh Hammond had two hits for the Trojans.

Sebring won the second game 17-4. Gabe Lanzer had three hits and two RBIs for the Trojans. Jake Hunter also had three hits. Nick Weingart and Matt Byrd each had two RBIs.
