Columbiana has great day in Salem

SALEM — Columbiana’s boys golf team came away with the Mineral Ridge Invitational title on Wednesday at Salem Hills.

The Clippers posted a team total of 348, while McDonald was second with a 364. Mineral Ridge took third with a 381 followed by Waterloo (387), Lisbon (388) and Jackson-Milton (439).

Seth Ross had medalist honors for the Clippers with a 76. Also for the Clippers, Tyler Anderson had a 88, Nate Whitehead 91 and Sean Whitehead 93.

For Lisbon, Austin Craig had a 79, Josh Entrikin 97, Blayne Brownfield 103 and Michael Miller 132.

Malvern 187, United 222

SALEM — United dropped a 187-222 to Malvern on Wednesday at Buck Run Golf Course, the Golden Eagles’ new home.

Shane Black led the Eagles with a 44. Matthew Courtney added a 57, Parker Berdine 58 and Mikey Bardo 63.

United (1-1) will host Leetonia today.

Tri-County

PARIS — Jordan Van Meter of Minerva captured medalist honors with a 73 on Tuesday at the Preseason Tri-County Tournament at Pleasant View Golf Course.

Marlington won the team title with a 331.

Beaver Local was fifth with a 375. For the Beavers, McKenna Kyler had an 87, Hayley Phillips 87, Brooke Briggs 91 and Chansyn Hoppel 110.

Salem was eighth with a 432. For the Quakers, Kelly Hutton had a 99, Makayla Stoffer 101, Sloan Rudibaugh 113 and Lexi Miller 119.
