Salem earns sweep over Fitch

AUSTINTOWN — The Salem volleyball team moved on to 3-0 on the season by sweeping Austintown Fitch, 25-15, 25-16, 25-16, Saturday.

For the Quakers, Caitlyn Marx powered the front court with nine kills and nine blocks. Echo Mayer-Kutz has 12 kills, 3 blocks, and 8 digs while Elly Exline added seven kills and Mackenzie Jeric five kills.

The Quakers will open Eastern Buckeye Conference play Tuesday at Canton South.

In junior varsity action, the Quakers lost 25-17, 25-17. Kaley Davis had two kills and Emily Manski added four digs for the Quakers.

The Salem freshmen opened their season by falling 25-18, 25-23. Alivia Davidson had five kills.

West Branch splits

BELOIT — The West Branch volleyball team won one and lost one Saturday.

West Branch defeated United, 25-15, 25-12, as Sammie Tuel collected 10 points and two aces. Elise Wallace had 13 assists and Riley Tuel five kills.

The Warriors opened the day by falling to Crestwood, 25-14, 25-20. Elise Wallace had three points and 17 assists and Riley Tuel six kills.

The Warriors are 4-1 overall.

The West Branch junior varsity team had the same results, beating United, 25-12, 25-7, and falling to Crestwood, 25-16, 25-18. Grace Slimon and Kaitly Greiner each had two kills against Crestwood.

Crestview 3, Wellsville 1

WELLSVILLE–Crestview toppled Wellsville 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22 in volleyball action Saturday.

The Rebels improve to 2-0 overall.

Brenna Auer totaled 15 kills, six digs and a block for the Rebels, while Emily Emch had 11 kills and five blocks.

Ameilia Montgomery came up with 29 digs. Haley Eskra and Amelia Montgomery dished out 21 and 16 assists respectively. They each added eight digs.

Crestview won the jayvee match 25-8, 22-25, 25-18.

Lucy Montgomery had seven points, six kills and 27 assists for the Rebels.

Western Reserve 3, Columbiana 0

COLUMBIANA–Western Reserve swept Columbiana 25-12, 25-13, 25-14 in volleyball action Friday.

The Blue Devils improve to 5-1 overall.

For Western Reserve, Laura Sigworth had 11 kills, 13 assists and five aces. Danielle Vuletich added 12 kills. Kennedy Miller had 14 assists and six digs.

For Columbiana, Maci Linhart had 15 digs and three kills. Alyssa Tohm had 14 digs and four assists.

Western Reserve won the jayvee match 18-25, 25-19, 25-13.

Sabra Nicopolis had five kills and two aces for the Clippers.
