Salem girls finish 10th at Tri-County Invite

DOVER–The Salem girls golf team finished 10th at the Tri-County Invitational Thursday at Zoar Village Golf Course.

The Quakers finished with a total of 414

Marlington took home the team title with a 341. Minerva (391) was sixth and West Branch (487) was 13th.

For Salem, Kelly Hutton led the way with a 92, Makayla Stoffer shot a 95, Sloan Rudibaugh 113, Lexi Miller 114, Camryn Riley 117 and Emily Weikert 132.

Salem senior Makayla Stoffer earned first-team Tri County honors. Junior Sloan Rudibaugh and sophomore Kelly Hutton made the second-team. Hutton also came away with second-team all tournament honors.

The Quakers, who finished fourth in the Eastern Buckeye Conference with a 6-6 record, finish the regular season with a pair of matches against Columbiana on Monday and Tuesday. They begin sectional tournament play Wednesday at Pine Lakes in Hubbard.

The Beavers will open sectional play Tuesday at Carroll Meadows in Carrollton.

United 203, Crestview 207

SALEM–The United golf team edged Crestview 203-207 Thursday at Buck Run.

For the Eagles, Shane Black led the way with a 45, Mikey Bardo shot a 50, Matthew Courtney added a 51 and Parker Berdine shot a 57.

For the Rebels, Ethan McCloskey and Arianna Rodi each shot 48, while Emily Hill added a 55 and Matt Wollet shot a 56.

Columbiana 174, Cardinal Mooney 177

BOARDMAN — Columbiana completed a 14-0 regular season with a 174-177 win over Cardinal Mooney on Thursday at Mill Creek South.

For the Clippers, Seth Ross had a 41, Tyler Andersen 41, Riley Mcelwain 45 and Nate Whitehead 47.

Keegan Butler was low for Mooney with a 37.

Columbiana will be in Div. III sectional play on Thursday at Salem Hills.

Clippers finish second

WARREN–The Columbiana girls golf team finished second in a quad match with Cardinal Mooney, Ursuline and Warren JFK Thursday at Trumbull Country Club. The Clippers finished with a total of 237. Mooney ran away with the team title with a 189. Ursuline shot 246, followed by JFK with 252.

For Columbiana (9-6) Jess Himes led the way with a 54, Morgan Dunlap shot 59, Lauren Stauffer 61 and Stephanie Novak 63.

The Clippers are at Salem Monday.

Carrollton 174, Salem 190

SALEM — Salem’s boys golf team closed the season with a 174-190 loss to Carrollton on Thursday.

For Salem (4-11, 2-10), Dylan Ulrich had a 42, Logan Zimmerman 47, Preston Markovich 50 and Lane Rhodes 52.

Salem plays in the Div. II sectional at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the Elms in Massillon.
