NILES — Bree Kohler wore the hat and the South Range girls held their first district championship trophy Thursday.

Kohler scored all three goals as fourth-seeded South Range downed sixth-seeded Ravenna Southeast, 3-1, in a Division III district final at Bo Rein Stadium.

Kohler scored twice in the first half, the second goal off a free kick from Hannah Ritchie, and Southeast’s Ashley McKenzie got a goal off a pass from Allissa Pow to make the score 2-1.

The Raiders closed out the scoring late in the match as Kohler notched her third goal on a break.

South Range improves to 13-7 and will face its toughest test in the regional semifinals.

The Raiders will play second-ranked Kirtland, the state runner-up last season, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Solon High School.

Top-seeded Kirtland won the Elyria district by downing third-seeded Cuyahoga Heights, 4-2, Thursday.

Ravenna Southeast beat second-seeded United and third-seeded Springfield on the way to the district final.
