Red Devils down Rebels
GREENFORD — Crestview’s boys soccer team was granted a rubber match to settle a dead-lock in the season series with All-American Conference rival Campbell Memorial, but the Red Devils had the magic touch in what has been a memorable season in the Div. III district final on Saturday at South Range High School.
Henry Mejia scored twice in the first half for the Red Devils as Campbell held on for a 2-1 win over the Rebels.
Mejia opened the scoring for the Devils, but Colton Novak countered a minute later with his seventh goal of the season. Mejia broke through again in the 13th minute put the final goal across.
Mejia has 33 goals on the season or the 16-3 Devils.
Campbell advances to meet Mineral Ridge at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the regional semifinal at Niles Bo Rein Stadium.
Crestview ends its season at 14-4-1. The Rebels shared the AAC Blue Division title with Campbell.
River View 4,
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — River View topped Minerva 4-2 to take a Div. II district final on Saturday at St. Clairsville’s Red Devil Stadium.
Minerva ends the season at 13-5-2. River View, which beat the Lions 4-3 in the season opener, is 14-6.
River View will meet St. Francis DeSales at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Coschocton High School in the regional semifinal.
