Quakers not backing down in EBC

SALEM — Salem’s girls basketball team took out Minerva 42-31 on Wednesday night in an Eastern Buckeye Conference game.

Salem moves to 7-2 and 3-1 in the EBC.

Kyla Jamison had 16 points and four rebounds. Casey Johnson added nine points. Ellie Davidson had four points, and nine key rebounds.

Addie Rhodes had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Lions, 5-2, 3-2.

Salem’s jayvees won 45-22.

Abby Perry, Jenna McClish and Krista Barley each had 11 points.

Salem is at Massillon Perry on Saturday.

Fairless 27

BELOIT — Peyton Alazaus had 13 points as West Branch earned another win by dropping Fairless 49-27 on Wednesday night.

Maddie Showalter added eight boards for the Warriors, 6-1.

West Branch is at Austintown Fitch on Saturday afternoon.

West Branch won the jayvee game, 48-18.

Boardman 75,

South Range 64

BOARDMAN — Boardman opened the fourth quarter with an 8-1 run as the Spartans downed South Range, 75-64, Wednesday.

South Range had just trimmed the margin to 56-52 on a Bree Kohler three-point at the end of the third quarter, but the Spartans quickly upped their lead to 64-53.

Boardman led 21-15 in the first quarter and 46-31 at halftime.

Izzy Lamparty topped the Raiders with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Kohler had 16 points and five assists and Bri Modic added 13 points.

South Range won the junior varsity game, 53-46, in triple overtime. The score was tied 30-30 at the end of regulation. Freshman Hannah Crouse led the Raiders with 16 points and 19 rebounds.

South Range will play at Niles today.

Crestview 37, Brookfield 29

BROOKFIELD — Crestview held Brookfield to 16 points in the opening three quarters on the way to a 37-29 win Wednesday.

Krista Perry and Tanner Hoffer led the charge. Perry totaled 17 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Hoffer had six points and seven rebounds and held Brookfield standout Bailey Drapola to 11 points.

Haley Eskra added three assists and Payton Huff made three steals.

The Rebels improve to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the All-American Conference.

Brookfield won the junior varsity game, 34-28. Sophia Carr had nine points for the Rebels.

Crestview will play Beaver Local on Saturday afternoon.
