Clippers throttle Bears

LEETONIA–The Columbiana girls basketball team was in control the whole way as the Clippers cruised past Leetonia 51-26 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

Columbiana improves to 7-3 overall and 7-0 in the EOAC. Leetonia falls to 2-5 in the EOAC.

Kayla Muslovski powered the Clippers with 20 points and five steals. Grace Hammond and Kennedy Fullum each added 10 points. Fullum grabbed nine rebounds.

Ari Russell and Anna Buffone each scored six points to lead the Bears. Russell had eight rebounds.

Columbiana is at East Palestine Monday. Leetonia hosts Mathews Saturday.

East Palestine 57, United 44

HANOVERTON — East Palestine built a 27-point lead in the third quarter and downed United, 57-44, in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Thursday.

Jaliyah Mixon topped the Bulldogs with a game-high 20 points, 16 rebounds and three steals. Joclyn Fristik contributed 12 points, Sara Buskirk 10 points and six assists, Payton Sherry seven rebounds and seven assists and Kenzee Johnston made four steals.

Celeste Hofmeister guided the Eagles with 15 points, followed by Morgan Hororka with 12.

United moves to 5-5 overall and 4-3 in EOAC play.

The Eagles won the two-quarter junior varsity game, 19-12, as Morgan Horvoka scored 12 points.

United will play at Minerva at noon Saturday for a varsity-only contest. East Palestine will host league-leading Columbiana on Monday.

WELLSVILLE–Lisbon breezed through Wellsville 77-18 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The Blue Devils improve to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in the EOAC. Wellsville falls to 0-10, 0-7.

Izzy Perez led the Blue Devils with 17 points and six steals. Chloe Smith added 13 points. Maddie Liberati had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Parker Henthorne pulled down nine rebounds, while Cadee Johnson had six rebounds.

Hunter Weekley scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Tigers. Kiki Perry added six rebounds.

Lisbon won the jv game 17-8. Parker Henthorne had six points for the Blue Devils. Ashley Durbin had four points for Wellsville.

Wellsville hosts Conotton Valley Saturday. Lisbon is at United Monday.
