EOAC action resumes
WELLSVILLE–Darien Suggs poured in 24 points to lead the Wellsville boys basketball team to a 69-52 win over Lisbon Friday.
The Tigers improve to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. Lisbon falls to 4-7, 2-5.
Justin Wright also came up big for the Tigers with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Garrett Scott added 18 points. In addition to his big scoring night, Darien Suggs also grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.
For Lisbon, Justin Sweeney led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds. Ryan McCullough added eight points and seven assists.
Lisbon won the jv game 23-15. Blayne Brownfield scored 14 points for the Blue Devils. Justin Talbert led the Tigers with five points.
Wellsville hosts Toronto in a crucial EOAC clash Tuesday. Lisbon is at United Tuesday.

United 50, East Palestine 49
HANOVERTON — United held East Palestine to nine points in the fourth quarter and rallied for a 50-49 win in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Friday.
Landon Baker led the Eagles with 17 points and eight rebounds. Parker Hydrick totaled 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Trailing 40-35 entering the fourth quarter, Baker and Hydrick each scored six points in the fourth quarter to key the Eagles.
Steve Darlington and Dominic Posey led the Bulldogs with 21 and 10 points, respectively, all coming in the first three quarters.
United improves to 4-2 in league play, while East Palestine drops to 2-4.
East Palestine won the junior varsity game, 43-40, Nate Miller led United with 15 points.
Both teams return to league play Tuesday as United hosts Lisbon and East Palestine entertains Columbiana.

Leetonia 55, Columbiana 52
LEETONIA — It took Leetonia a while to get going, but the Bears have two wins in a row.
Leetonia opened up a 15-point halftime lead and held on for a 55-52 win over Columbiana in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play Friday night.
The Bears are 1-6 in league play, while the Clippers are 2-5.
Ian Davis and Brock Simpson led Leetonia, each with a game-high 14 points. Davis added five rebounds. Jordan Baker contributed nine points, Ethan Hartmaneight points and Marco Ferry five rebounds.
Simpson scored 11 points and Davis eight during a 24-8 second-quarter run that gave the Bears a 34-19 halftime lead. They led 48-34 after three quarters before the Clippers held the Bears to seven points in the fourth quarter.
Hunter Zentner and Matt Mazei each totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Clippers. Ryan Fahs added 11 points and Seth Ross had three assists and three steals.
Leetonia also won the juniro varsity game, 48-35. Tim Finch scored 11 points for the Bers. Xathon Cross had 14 points for the ilippers.
Both teams are on the road Tuesday with Leetonia at Southern and Columbiana at East Palestine.

Toronto 57, Southern 38
SALINEVILLE — The Toronto boys basketball team maintained its hold on first place in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference with a 57-38 win over Southern Friday.
The Red Knights are now 10-1 overall and 6-0 in the EOAC, one game ahead of Wellsville. Toronto travels to Wellsville on Tuesday. Southern falls to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the EOAC.
Cam Grodhaus led Southern with 15 points. Nick May added 14 points. and 10 rebounds. Max Hart also came up with 10 rebounds for the Indians, while Jayce Sloan grabbed nine boards.
Southern will play at Heartland today.
