EOWL belongs to the Beavers

AUSTINTOWN–The Beaver Local wrestling team showed off its overall strength at Saturday’s EOWL Tournament.

Highlighted by three first-place finishers and five runner-ups, the Beavers took home the team title with 292 1/2 points at Austintown Fitch High School.

Beaver Local outpaced Canfield, which finished with 259 points and Louisville, which had 242 1/2 points.

For the Beavers, Skyer Lasure earned the 145-pound championship with a 7-1 win over Louisville’s Daniel Kennedy.

In the 160-pound finals, Beaver Local’s Brenden Severs beat Canfield’s David Reinhart 4-1.

Beau Smith took home the 170-pound title for Beaver Local with a 7-3 win over Clayton Takacs from Grand Valley.

Runner-up finishes for the Beavers included Jaymin Salsberry (106 pounds), Logan Ours (126), Jared Wright (138), Logan Krulik (152) and Daniel Wirth (285).

West Branch was the next highest local team, as the Warriors finished fifth with 135 points.

Kenny Marra took home a runner-up finish in the 195-pound bracket for the Warriors. Neil Ginneti (182 pounds) took third. Gage Bickley was fourth in the 152-pound bracket.

South Range was seventh with 105 points. For the Raiders, Anthony Czap placed fourth in the 220-pound bracket. Logan Cormell (160) and Kyle Keenan were also fourth.

Crestview was 11th with 75 points. Isaac Ricketts highlighted the Rebels’ effort with a 145-pound third place finish.

Salem was 18th with 49 points. Tony Seddon collected a seventh place finish in the 106-pound bracket for the Quakers.

Columbiana was 24th with 33 points. Nathan Whitehead (195 pounds) earned a fourth-place finish for the Clippers.

Wellsville rounded things out with 29 points and a 26th place finish. Seth Kerner placed eighth in the 152-pound bracket for the Tigers.
