Leetonia, Southern give it another try

SALINEVILLE — Southern finished the job against Leetonia on Wednesday in boys basketball action.

A power outage at the end of the jayvee game on Tuesday postponed the game until Wednesday.

The varsity teams resumed play at 6 p.m. and the Indians came away with a 75-47 victory.

Cam Grodhaus had 26 points and six steals for the winners. Jayce Sloan added 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists. Tanner Patterson got involved with 10 points and six boards.

Brock Smalley and Brady Tolson had five rebounds each.

Southern is 7-3 and 5-3 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Ian Davis scored 12 to lead the Bears.

Southern is at Columbiana on Friday night. Leetonia hosts Wellsville on Friday.

Southern won the jayvee game, 45-19. That game was halted with 3:50 to go in the third due to the power outage.

Tolson led the winners with 14 points.
