Leone powers West Branch

United’s Landon Baker tries to score as West Branch’s Nick Everett and Brandon Zuchowski defend on Friday.

BELOIT — Reese Leone scored 16 of his game-high 21 points in the first half to put West Branch on the way to a 64-55 win over United on Friday.

The Warriors improve to 14-6, while the Eagles move to 10-10.

Brandon Zuchowski contributed 16 points, Nick Pidgeon 11 and Nick Everett nine.

Leone helped the Warriors opened up a 34-27 halftime lead.

United had four players in double figures, led by Parker Hydrick with 15 points and five assists. Alex Birtalan collected 12 points, Landon Baker 11 points and 11 rebounds and Keaton Baker 10 points.

West Branch also won the junior varsity game, 61-34. Nate Miller led United with nine points.

Both teams play Tuesday as West Branch hosts Columbiana and United entertains Lordstown.

CARROLLTON — Carrollton got 18 points from Adam Chaney in a 63-50 win over Salem on Friday night in an Eastern Buckeye Conference finale for each team.

Trey Double led the Quakers with 21 points and six rebounds.

Salem fell to 5-15 and 3-9.

The Warriors are 7-13 and 6-6.

Salem will welcome East Palestine for senior night on Tuesday.

Jackson-Milton 42

LISBON — Lisbon secured its 10th victory of the season by downing Jackson-Milton, 45-42, Friday.

Justin Sweeney led the way with a game-high 16 points, five assists and three rebounds. Ryan McCullough added 13 points and Blayne Brownfield 10 points. Michael Davis grabbed three rebounds, while Logan Bell and Nick Mundy each made two steals.

The Blue Devils trailed 22-18 at halftime and rallied by outscoring the Bluejays 27-20 in the second half.

Lisbon improves to 10-10 and Jackson-Milton falls to 2-18.

Maison Robison topped Jackson-Milton with 15 points.

Lisbon also won the junior varsity game, 42-33, as Kaden Crawford scored 13 points.

The Blue Devils will host Malvern on Tuesday.

Waterloo 54, Western Reserve 45

BERLIN CENTER — Waterloo handled Western Reserve during Friday’s 54-45 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference win Friday.

The Vikings got 19 points from Vaughn Dorsey and 16 points from Caleb Francis.

Waterloo outscored Western Reserve in every quarter.

Western Reserve moves to 4-16 overall and 3-11 in the MVAC.

For the Blue Devils, Riley Miller had 20 points and Todd Henning 11 points.

Waterloo also won the junior varsity game, 40-36. Luke Simons led Waterloo with 18. Gabe Platt had 25 points for Western Reserve.

Western Reserve will play at Rootstown on Tuesday.
