Lions pull away from Quakers

MINERVA–Minerva defeated Salem 59-44 in Eastern Buckeye Conference boys basketball action Tuesday.

The Lions improve to 6-13 overall and 4-7 in the EBC. Salem drops to 5-12, 3-7.

Brice Williams powered the Lions with 23 points.

Josh Young racked up 21 points to lead the Quakers. Trey Double finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Hunter Griffith had six rebounds.

Minerva won the jv game 50-47. Caleb Stockman and Anthony Dimuzio each had nine points for Salem.

Salem hosts Marlington Friday, while Minerva is at East Liverpool.

BELOIT — West Branch knocked off Canton South 56-49 on Tuesday in Eastern Buckeye Conference play.

West Branch is 12-5 and 7-4 in the league.

South won the jayvee game, 59-53.

The Warriors will be at Alliance on Friday.

Brookfield 67, Crestview 40

COLUMBIANA — Drake Golden had 14 points and eight rebounds but it wasn’t enough as Brookfield dropped Crestview 67-40 on Tuesday in All-American Conference play.

Crestview is at Newton Falls on Friday.

COLUMBIANA–The Crestview girls basketball team took down Brookfield 70-44 on Tuesday.

The Rebels improve to 13-5 overall and 6-5 in the All-American Conference Blue Tier. Brookfield falls to 12-7.

The Rebels were powered by a big night from Tanner Hoffer, who finished with 18 points and 19 rebounds.

Krista Perry canned four threes on her way to 20 points, three assists and two blocks. Mara Halas added 13 points, four assists and three steals.

Crestview won the two-quarter jv game 31-15. Emily Hill had eight points for the Rebels.

Crestview hosts Campbell today.
