Two straight for Salem boys

SALEM — Josh Young hit four three-pointers and Trey Double added seven points to highlight a 24-9 first-quarter run that put Salem on its way to a 74-52 win over Hubbard on Saturday night.

The Quakers win for the second straight night to improve to 5-11, while Hubbard drops to 1-15.

Salem featured a balanced attack with four players in double figures. Turner Johnson led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Young 15 points, Niko Walter 14 points and Trey Double 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Josh Lehwald grabbed six rebounds and Hunter Griffith made four steals.

The Quakers led 40-21 at halftime and 54-35 after three quarters.

Cam Resatar paced Hubbard with 24 points. Chanze Kelley added 14.

Salem also won the junior varsity game, 49-32. Caleb Stockman led the Quakers with 14 points and Anthony Dimuzio added 11 points

The Quakers will play at Minerva on Tuesday.

Lisbon 73, Wellsville 59

LISBON–It was a historic three-point shooting night for the Lisbon boys basketball team Saturday against Wellsville.

The Blue Devils set the single-game school record for threes in a game with 14, while Blayne Brownfield set the individual single-game record with seven threes as Lisbon took down Wellsville 73-59 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action.

The Blue Devils improve to 9-8 overall and 7-6 in the EOAC. Wellsville falls to 11-6, 8-5.

Brownfield finished with a game-high 25 points for Lisbon.

Justin Sweeney added 22 points and seven rebounds. Ryan McCullough had 12 points and five rebounds.

For Wellsville, Garrett Scott led the way with 18 points. Luke Green added 17 points.

Lisbon is at Toronto Friday.
