West Branch captures 15th win as Leone hits for 20 points

BELOIT — West Branch held off Columbiana for a 56-52 win on senior night Tuesday.

Reese Leone led the Warriors with 20 points and Nick Everett added 15.

West Branch improves to 15-6, while Columbiana finished the regular season at 12-10.

Erik Hopfenziz topped the Clippers with 24 points and 11 rebounds. He scored 14 points in the first quarter as the Clippers took a 20-17 lead.

Seth Ross had six assists and Hunter Zentner five assists and six rebounds.

West Branch also won the junior varsity game, 50-29.

The Warriors will close out the regular season at Hubbard on Friday.

HANOVERTON — Landon Baker had 21 points and seven rebounds, while Alex Birtalan had seven points and eight rebounds as United downed Lordstown 59-43 on Tuesday.

Ethan Antram added five assists and Brutus Ogilvie had four assists.

United is 11-10.

Lordstown won the jayvee portion, 33-18. Nate Miller had nine points for the Eagles.

United hosts Salem on Friday.

LEAVITTSBURG — LaBrae had a 32-point third quarter en route to a 73-41 win over Crestview on Tuesday in All-American Conference play.

Crestview is 2-19 and host Wellsville on Friday.

Drake Golden led the Rebels with 22 points.

LISBON — Justin Sweeney powered the Lisbon Blue Devils with 31 points and 11 rebounds, but Malvern hung on for a 70-63 win on Tuesday.

Ryan McCullough added 13 points, five assists and three steals for the Devils, 10-11.

Malvern is 14-7.

Malvern won the jayvee game, 58-37. Kaden Crawford paced the Devils with 15 points. Noah Ball had 13 points for the Hornets.

Lisbon closes the regular season with a home game against Western Reserve on Friday night.

BERLIN CENTER — Riley Miller had 18 points and Noah Klasic added 10 points but Western Reserve took a 78-52 loss against Rootstown on Tuesday.

Western Reserve is 5-16 and 3-11 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.

Rootstown won the reserve game, 60-54. Gabe Platt had 26 points for the Blue Devils.

Western Reserve is at Lisbon on Friday night.

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Girard survived a 16-6 fourth-quarter run by Springfield to beat the Tigers, 64-59, Tuesday.

Girard improves to 11-10, while Springfield drops to 16-5.

Four Indians scored in double figures as Christian Graziano had 16 points, Austin Clausell 15, Payich 14 and Connelly 13.

Girard led 58-43 after three quarters of play.

Springfield was led by Shane Eynon with 17 points. Beau Brungard added 16 points and Drew Clark contributed 10 points. Freshman Adam Wharry scored nine points in the fourth quarter.

Springfield will host LaBrae in the regular-season finale Friday.

MINERVA — Brice Williams scored a game-high 24 points in leading Minerva past East Canton, 69-51, Tuesday.

Reece Catlett added 13 points and Brandon Baumgarnder 12.

The Lions outscored the Hornets by a combined score of 50-22 in the second and fourth quarters.

Minerva wraps up the regular season at 7-15, while East Canton drops to 2-19.

Minerva also won the junior varsity game, 52-20.
