Byers grabs G-MAC honor

CANTON — Malone University freshman softball pitcher Kelsey Byers has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Pitcher of the Week after four solid outings last week.

Byers, who led West Branch High School to the state title game last year, led Malone to a 3-1 record, tossing four complete games. Over 27 innings pitched, Byers struck out 20, walked one and posted a 1.04 ERA. She also held opponents to a .167 batting average as Malone earned a sweep of Findlay on Wednesday and a doubleheader split with Davis & Elkins on Saturday.
