Quakers earn a sweep

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.–The Salem softball team swept a pair of games at the Ripken Experience Friday.

The Quakers beat Elliott County (KY) 3-1 in five weather-shortened innings in the first game. Bailee Thorn led the way with a home run and a triple. Taylor Thorpe added two hits, while Brooke Veglia doubled. Taylor Thorpe struck out 11 for the win.

The Quakers beat Corry (PA) 6-2 in the second game. Bailee Thorn had two hits and two steals. Rylie Troy added a two-run single, while Taylor Thorpe doubled.

Green Sea Floyds 4

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Crestview’s softball team defeated Green Sea Floyds (So. Carolina) 10-4 on Thursday at the Ripken Experience.

Karsyn Moore had a single, double and triple. Olivia Streank and Shianna Mathes had three hits each. Crestview (15-3) combined for 20 total hits.

Kaedyn Sutton was the winning pitcher as she struck out 10.

Crestview plays Black River Falls (Wis.) at 11 a.m. today in Myrtle Beach.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Salem’s baseball team topped Mount Tabor 6-3 on Friday during action at the Ripken Experience.

Joey Watson had a two-run home run for Salem and Seth Seddon had the win on the mound.

Late on Thursday, Salem dropped a 10-6 decision to Van Buren at the Ripken Experience.

West Branch 9, Crestwood 3

BELOIT — West Branch’s baseball team put together 11 hits to defeat Crestwood 9-3 on Friday afternoon.

Josh Meissner, Justin Goode and Tanner Egli had two hits each for West Branch, 11-5.

LISBON — Logan Bell had three hits and three RBIs including a triple as Lisbon downed Jackson-Milton 11-1 on Friday afternoon.

On the mound Bell struck out 16 to capture the win. He is 4-1 on the season.

Lisbon is 7-8 and is at Leetonia on Monday.
