Quakers gang up on Eagles
HANOVERTON — Bailee Thorn’s three-run home run in the fourth inning put the Salem softball team on its way to a 15-2 win over United on Wednesday.
Thorn’s blast gave Salem a 6-0 lead and the Quakers put the game away with a ninth-run sixth inning.
Taylor Thorpe struck out 11 in going the distance for the victory and was 4-for-4 with a double.
Elly Exline and Sara Castles each had three hits and Hayden Carner added two. Thorn drove in four runs.
Savannah Burton had a triple and Alyssa Inman a long double for the Eagles.
Salem improves to 2-2, while United drops to 0-6.
United will host Western Reserve today.

EAST PALESTINE — Lisbon made it a clean sweep of East Palestine with a 10-6 win on Wednesday in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play.
Kenedy Vrable had four hits including two doubles and three RBIs for the Blue Devils, 4-0, 4-0.
Autumn Oehlstrom added a single, double and an RBI. Emma Thompson had two singles, a double and three RBIs.
For East Palestine (2-3, 2-3), Taylor Hostetter had two hits and two RBIs. Delaney Early had two hits and two RBIs as well.
Lisbon hosts Mineral Ridge today.
East Palestine hosts Mooney on Friday.

Peyton Alazaus had four hits including a double, while Delaney Rito had three hits including double. Jordan Anderson had three hits including two doubles and was the winning pitcher.

POLAND — Poland’s softball team defeated South Range 7-1 on Wednesday to secure a season-sweep.
Hanna Dennison had two hits for the Raiders, while Bree Kohler added two hits.
Kohler struck out nine in six innings for Range.
Waterloo 8, Western Reserve 7
ATWATER — Waterloo edged Western Reserve 8-7 on Wednesday in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play.
Morgan Donithan had a home run, single, double and four RBIs for Reserve, 2-2, 2-1.

SEBRING — Ariel Laneve hit a two-run homer and Courtney Boyer went 2 for 3 with a triple as Mineral Ridge stopped Sebring 9-3 on Wednesday.

BROOKFIELD — Kaedyn Sutton hit her first home run of her high school career and then picked up her fifth win of the season on the mound as Crestview topped Brookfield 5-3 on Wednesday.
Haley Eskra added a double and two RBIs for the Rebels, 6-2. Karsyn Moore had an RBI single.
Crestview hosts Southern today.
