Raiders win tuneup

STRUTHERS–The South Range baseball team won a postseason tuneup against Youngstown Ursuline 3-1 on Friday at Cene Park.

Nolan Shannon pitched a complete game for the Raiders, who improve to 20-4 overall. The Irish fall to 11-14.

Josh Stear had two hits for South Range.

The Raiders are at Springfield today.

HARTVILLE–The Lisbon baseball team fell 4-1 to Lake Center Christian Friday.

Justin Sweeney went 2-for-3 for the Blue Devils (10-13-1), Josh Entrikin singled home Lisbon’s only run.

Lisbon hosts Beaver Local Monday.

COLUMBIANA–The Columbiana baseball team blanked Girard 14-0 on Friday.

The Clippers improve to 13-9 overall. Chase Franken pitched a five inning no-hitter to earn his fifth win of the year.

At the plate, Franken went 3-for-4 with a pair of triples, a double and four RBIs for Columbiana. Evan Kenneally added three RBIs. Wayne Davis went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Logan Hoschar chipped in a two-run single. Joey Wilczak recorded his first varsity hit with a single.

Columbiana faces United today in a makeup game before facing the Eagles again on Monday in a Div. III sectional opener.

Bristol 8, Lisbon 5

LISBON — Lisbon’s softball team got a chance to see how it measured up to a fellow Div. IV district top seed when it took on Bristol on Friday.

The Panthers rallied for five runs in the sixth to down the Devils 8-5.

Bristol (17-2) is the top seed in the Warren district, while Lisbon (20-2) is the top seed in the Jackson-Milton district.

Lisbon’s usually potent top three in the order went 4 for 12 against the Panthers with Autumn Oehlstrom hitting a home run. McKenna Dailey had a hit and two RBIs. Kenedy Vrable had two hits.

Lisbon will be back in action against East Canton on Monday in a Div. IV district semifinal at Jackson-Milton Elementary.
