Salem’s Rhodes does it all in Quaker win over Carrollton

SALEM — Salem sophomore Lane Rhodes threw a complete game shutout on 79 pitches as the Quakers downed Carrollton 7-0 on Tuesday in Eastern Buckeye Conference action.

At the plate Rhodes went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI. On the mound, he tallied eight strikeouts and only allowed one hit on the way to his third win of the season. Joey Watson also had an RBI double.

Salem (11-11, 6-5 EBC) is at Carrollton today.

COLUMBIANA–Howland downed Crestview 9-4 in baseball action Tuesday.

Tyler Hurd drove in all four runs for Crestview, which falls to 12-8 overall.

Isaac Ricketts added a single and a double. James Ftizgerald, Chuck Lindsay, Ryan Sherril, and Kyle Saunders each had a hit.

UNITY — East Palestine stomped East Liverpool 14-5 on its senior night on Tuesday at Next Level.

East Palestine’s Brock Cheurco had three hits including an inside-the-park homer and a double. Cooper Vance had three hits including two doubles. Cameron Wischerman had three hits.

East Palestine is 14-7-1.

Cory Weyand, Kamren Klakos, Devin Toothman and Logan Bennett had two hits each for the Potters.

East Palestine hosts New Brighton (Pa.) today.

COLUMBIANA — Columbiana celebrated its senior night with a 12-2 win over Leetonia in five innings on Tuesday.

Columbiana is 11-9 and 7-4 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference.

Chase Franken hit his second home run of the season for the Clippers. Hunter Zentner had two doubles and three RBIs, while Seth Ross had a single and double. Evan Kenneally had two hits and two RBIs.

Wayne Davis got the win on the mound.

Columbiana plays Struthers today at Cene Park.

Springfield 10, Lowellville 0

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Springfield knocked off Lowellville 10-0 in six innings on Tuesday.

For Springfield, Clayton Nezbeth, Mitchell Seymour, Drew Clark and Nick Slike all had multiple hits.

Spring is 13-0 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.

The Tigers host Girard on Thursday.

LISBON–Josh Entrikin had an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as Lisbon tied Wellsville 7-7 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference baseball action Tuesday.

Lisbon is now 10-12-1 overall and 6-7-1 in the EOAC.

Entrikin, Justin Sweeney and Nick Mundy all had multiple hits for the Blue Devils.

Cole Corbin had a double and two RBis for the Tigers.

Lisbon is at Lake Center Christian on Friday.

CALCUTTA–Josh Pratt pitched a complete game as Southern defeated Beaver Local 5-1 on Tuesday.

The Indians are now 11-9 overall. The Beavers fall to 4-14.

Timmy West, Sam May and Garrett Rodgers all singled for the Indians. For the Beavers, Ethan Agnew had a single and an RBI. Ryan Cunningham and Jaden Kiddey each singled.

Southern hosts Youngstown East today. Beaver Local hosts Struthers Thursday.
