Self-Conscious Square

of Venus and Jupiter

At the time of this writing, the self-awareness of computers and most of the animal kingdom still hovers around zero, with the exception of a handful of mirror-gazing birds, fish and the like. For better or worse, humans seem to have the lion’s share of self-consciousness on the planet, which is amplified during this square of Venus and Jupiter.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You’re not threatened by other talented people, because your creativity allows you to see how melding your talents together makes everyone shine brighter.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). This game you’re playing requires strategy. Think far ahead, and then work backward to determine how to get there, imagining the variables you’re likely to encounter along the way.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). What’s ailing you may seem like a matter of psychology, but it can be handled just as easily with a rearrangement of schedule and some other practical matters. It’s all about your system. Make things easier for yourself.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). Atmosphere can make or break things such as dates, dinner parties and even simple conversations. The good news is that you have a lot of power over this. If a place doesn’t feel right, just take the action elsewhere.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). The manual for fiction writers suggests that in a good story, characters drive the plot and not the other way around. Similarly, today you decide who you want to be, and your actions advance the plot.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). This is a new you, so clear your environment of all the unwanted reminders of the old you doing the old habits, and fill the space with symbols, tools and fuels that represent the new you.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Once upon a time, the role you’re in now seemed like a distant impossibility, and now you’ve set your sights on another equally improbable (yet eminently possible) reality.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). How you feel about the decision right now is different from how you’ll feel tomorrow and next year. Keeping the perspective of time in mind helps you set future you up for success.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). No matter what the problem is, you can be sure that someone else has had it or is having it right now. So find out who’s in the club, and see what you can learn. This one will be solved more easily than imagined.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). When people see you the way you want to be seen, it feels somewhat satisfying at first, if a little hollow. That’s because there’s nothing quite as fulfilling as being fully embraced for who you really are.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). What you see is never all that is. Magic shows are built on this premise, and so are drama, branding and dating. Your edge today is your curiosity. You’ll follow it to answers that are out of the frame and behind the scenes.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Once you’re in temptation’s living room, it will seem impolite to turn down the offerings. You’re lucky that you know where temptation lives. Don’t even go down that street.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (April 15). Your gumption will be invigorated, and your dreams never seemed more possible — largely because of your “no excuses, no quitting” attitude. You’ll change something in the next three weeks that makes it more possible to devote yourself to your work. Surprises will further enliven the journey, including support people and funding. Virgo and Cancer adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 40, 1, 38, 20 and 16.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Seth Rogen was a teen stand-up comedian who dropped out of school to make his Hollywood dreams come true. Born when the sun, Mercury and Jupiter were all in daring Aries, the director, writer and movie star now enjoys A-list perks and responsibilities. Look for him in the upcoming comedy “Long Shot,” in which he charms a presidential candidate played by Charlize Theron.
