Mr. and Mrs. Paul Headland mark golden wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Headland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 17. They were married in 1965 at the United Methodist Church on Superior Avenue in Akron.
Mr. Headland’s father, the Rev. Kenneth Headland, and his brother, the Rev. Mark Headland, officiated at the ceremony.
The Headlands have two children, Stephanie (Judson) Linder and Dan (Kara) Headland, all of Salem.
Mr. Headland retired in 2000 from teaching. He taught history at Southern Local Schools for two years and taught special education at Salem City Schools for 34 years. He also coached football for 21 years and girls fast pitch softball for 11 years.
Mrs. Headland retired in 2007 from Salem City Schools where she worked for 26 years. She also volunteered for Christian Women’s Club, Church Women United, and the Look Nook Gift Shop at Salem Regional Medical Center.
The couple celebrated with their daughter and son-in-law by going on a surprise limo trip to visit the church where they were married, Swenson’s Drive In, Towpath Racquet Club, place of their first date at the State Theatre in Cuyahoga Falls, and Sugar Shack.
