Mr. and Mrs. Walt Ehrhart mark 65th wedding anniversary

Walt and Pat Ehrhart of Salem recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. A reception was hosted by their daughters, Sylvia Long and her husband Dave, Sandy Geist and her husband Mark; two granddaughters, Christina Hendricks and her husband Trey, Jackie Jones and her husband Josh; grandson, Ryan Long and fiance Jacklyn Brenman; and two great-grandchildren, Brady Hendricks and Maddie Jones. The Ehrharts were told that a birthday party was going to be given for five family members who had birthdays in August. Instead, it was a surprise to the honored couple when they arrived at the anniversary party with over 50 guests in attendance.

The party was held at the Jones’ home. Guests attended from Salem, Barberton, Ravenna, Akron, Bolivar and Florida. Another happy moment was celebrated on Aug. 18 when the honorees’ third great-grandchild, Emma Eileen Jones, was born.

The former Patricia Neely and Mr. Ehrhart were married on Aug. 17, 1950, at the Salem Presbyterian Church Chapel. The Rev. George Keister performed the ceremony. Witnesses were Donna (Neely) Pastier and Thomas Minor.

In the early years of their marriage, Mrs. Ehrhart was employed in the office of the Church Budget Company in Salem.

Master Sergeant Ehrhart retired from the Air Force in 1972 after 21 years service and retired from Kent State University. Salem campus, with over 25 years retirement credit in the admissions/records department.
