James and Donna Forney to mark golden wedding anniversary
James and Donna Forney, a Salem couple who married on Friday the 13th, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary 50 years later, also on Friday the 13th.
The former Donna Jean Craig and Mr. Forney of 1835 Fairview Court were married on May 13, 1966, by the Rev. William Longsworth at the First United Methodist Church in Salem.
The Forneys have three children, Laura (Mark) Schmidt and Denise Forney, both of Salem, and the late Eric Forney. They also have one grandchild.
Mr. Forney retired on Dec. 11, 1987, following 32 years of service at Bearings Inc. in Youngstown. He is a member of the Salem Masonic organization.
Mrs. Forney was employed as a registered nurse at Salem City Hospital, Salem Health Department and Alliance City Hospital, retiring in 1991. She is a member of Faith Court #43 Order of Amaranth and Salem Hospital Nurses Alumni.
Mr. and Mrs. Forney are members of the First United Methodist Church where she has volunteered in the nursery for many years.
A private dinner is planned for the couple.
