Mr. and Mrs. Donald Burton to mark 60th wedding anniversary Sunday

Donald D. and Margaret Burton of Lisbon will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary an open house reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. George’s Catholic Hall in Lisbon.

The former Margaret M. Yaney and Mr. Burton were married on May 12, 1956, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Summittville with the Rev. John Nist officiating.

The couple has lived in Wayne Township for the past 60 years.

Mrs. Burton is homemaker and has worked as a poll worker for 20 years in Wayne Township.

Mr. Burton is an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He retired in 1983 from Crucible Steel in Midland, Pa., after 24 years, and also worked as a farmer and auctioneer.

The festivities will be hosted by their six children, Harold Burton and Thomas Burton, both of Wellsville; George Burton of Burton, James Burton of Salineville, Kathleen Burton of Lisbon and Pamela (Kenneth) Baer of Columbiana. They also have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family asks that gifts be omitted.
