The Damascus Ruritan Club hosted an American flag retirement ceremony Saturday at the Damascus Community Center. Participating were members of Boys Scouts Troop 55 of North Georgetown. Numerous flags were collected from patriotic-minded citizens for proper disposal. Ruritan members had new flags available. Maddie Dustman of Beloit performed “Taps.” The 2018 West Branch High School graduate is a junior at the University of Mount Union. (Salem News photo by J.D. Creer)
