Opening Thursday

The new Gordmans apparel and home decor store located in the Salem Plaza on East State Street will hold a grand opening ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Thursday, inviting customers to join in the fun. The first 100 guests in line at the grand opening celebration will receive a Gordmans insulated tote bag and a scratch off card for an opportunity to win a $50 gift card or a $5 shopping card. One lucky person will win the gift card. Gordmans will present a $1,000 donation to new Salem High School Principal Todd McLaughlin during the ceremony, which Salem Mayor John Berlin also is expected to attend. Store manager Lyndsey Johnson will participate in the ribbon cutting/presentation. The grand opening is part of a larger celebration being held simultaneously at 24 other new stores in Ohio where Gordmans will donate $1,000 to a local high school in each community. Overall, the grand opening tour celebration includes the June opening of 36 brand new Gordmans stores. The off-price retailer is taking over the spot formerly occupied by Peebles, a fellow Stage Store which closed earlier this month. Gordmans will offer brand name clothing and home goods for less.
