Motorcycle crash leaves one dead

UNITY TOWNSHIP — Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post are investigating a one-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred at 2:19 p.m. Sunday.

Harry Goldinger, 53, of Rochester, PA was operating a 2000 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic motorcycle westbound on state Route 14 east of McCloskey Road in Unity Township. The motorcycle traveled left of center and off the south side of the roadway, striking a driveway embankment. The Harley Davidson overturned causing Mr. Goldinger to be ejected. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office.

The patrol was assisted on the by the Columbiana Police Dept., New Waterford Fire/EMS and the East Palestine Fire/EMS.

A helmet was not in use at the time of the crash. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash which currently remains under investigation.
