Dahlia Society to offer show in Alliance mall
ALLIANCE–The Mahoning Valley Dahlia Society will sponsor its 16th annual dahlia show from 1 to 8 p.m. Aug. 24 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 25 in the center concourse at Carnation City Mall, 2500 W. State St. Exhibitors may enter in the youth, novice, small grower or large grower section. Artistic Design pieces may also be entered into the show. All entries must be in place by 9 a.m. Aug. 24 and not be removed until the show closes on Sunday. The best entry in each class will receive a special ribbon and advance to the Court of Honor. Friendly society members will be on hand to answer questions about growing, care and showing their favorite flower, the dahlia. Local business to host free community bike rides
SALEM–Free Community Bike Ride leaves from Your Best Self Fitness Studio parking lot at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. It’s an easy 8 mile ride on mostly flat, paved roads. No one is left behind. Weather permitting. Led by Joe Hovorka, owner of Your Best Self Bicycles in Salem.
North Lima church to hold BBQ dinners
NORTH LIMA–Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., will host a cherrywood smoked BBQ dinner from noon to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) today and Aug. 24 and 25. The cost is $10 per dinner. The meal includes cherrywood smoked chicken and kielbasa, Texas baked beans and a dinner roll.
