Recycling event set Saturday in Goshen Township

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP–The Goshen Township Recycling Department will hold its annual customer appreciation along with tire and electronic drives this weekend.

The Customer Appreciation Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the township garage, 12649 Seacrist Road. The Scrap Tire Drive is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the Electronic Drive from 9 a.m. to noon, both at the same location.

In cooperation with the Mahoning County Green Team, the event is open to everyone and will include free refreshments. The township trustees will also put up its digital display from the Canfield Fair to share information about the township.

According to Recycling Coordinator Paul Manypenny, the event offers an opportunity for township officials to interact with community members.

“This is a good event to meet people and talk to them, enlighten them about what is going on here,” he said. “It also keeps the tires and electronics from going to landfills.”

There is a fee for tires as well as CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors and televisions.

Car, light truck, motorcycle and bicycle tires cost $1 each for up to 10 and $2 each over 10 ($2.25 on the rim); semi truck/skid loader tires cost $8 each ($8.50 on the rim); and racing slicks/off road tires cost $25 each. CRT monitors and televisions cost $20 each, with no console televisions being accepted. Flat screen televisions and monitors and most other electronics are free.
