RCAP to share Washingtonville’s water assessment
WASHINGTONVILLE–An assessment of the village’s water and sewer system will be presented prior to the next village council meeting.
A representative from Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) will present an assessment review of the village’s water and sewer system at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at village hall. The hour-long review will be followed by the regular council meeting.
Already battling a tight budget, council is facing significant costs to address issues with the water tower, which Superintendent of Utilities Brian Gudat has guessed was built in the 1950s. It is showing rust and needs repainted.
Village officials have had discussions with Leetonia officials regarding hooking into the neighboring village’s water line from Salem to help avoid the costs associated with fixing the tank and has also considered purchasing the old water tower at the county jail from the county commissioners.
In related news, council this week authorized Mayor Herman Frank to prepare and submit applications for the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) State Capital Improvement Program in regards to applying for grants for a water tower.
