Leetonia police accepting packages for residents

LEETONIA-The Leetonia Police Department is once again offering to accept personal packages for residents at the station to prevent thefts.

Police Chief Allen Haueter said Friday his department will again accept personal packages this Christmas season for residents who know they will not be home to receive packages in the mail.

The program is an attempt to prevent theft from porches.

Residents can contact the police department after they have ordered an item with the date it will be arriving, what it is, and all of their contact information.

The order will need to be picked up the same day it is delivered. Items cannot be housed at the station; the station is just a safe drop off point for residents.

Residents who have medical prescriptions delivered to their home, such as Critical Healthcare patients, can follow the same procedure. Additionally, for elderly or handicap residents, officers can deliver the medication during a shift they are not busy.

For information contact Haueter at 330-427-6731.
