Green Twp. trustees look for control of roadways
GREENFORD– Green Township trustees will be looking to obtain control over three roadways in the township.
Acorrding to Fiscal Officer Randy Chismar, Trustee Chair Dave Slagle will be contacting the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office to see if the township can take over maintenance responsibilities of Calla Road, Beaver Creek Road south of state Route 165 and Main Street in New Albany. Chismar said the county currently maintains the roadways, but the trustees are not happy with their conditions.
In other business, trustees approved a resolution to join the Ohio Cooperative Purchasing program. Chismar said the program is offered by the state and allows municipalities to purchase items such as equipment and vehicles without seeking bids.
The trustees also purchased a refrigerator at $3,147.15 and warming unit at $3,094.72 for the community building.
Also at the meeting, trustees hired of James Flory of Washingtonville as a probationary firefighter, granted permission for firefighter Matt Kidd to attend firefighter school and approved the purchase of modems for the heart monitors for the EMS and fire departments.
The trustees will hold their reorganizational, inventory and regular meetings starting at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 in the community building.
